Iyengar Inspired Yoga (Mixed Ability)
This form of Yoga concentrates with a strong emphasis and focus on structural alignment of the physical body through the practice of static asanas and Breath work know as Pranayama. It differs from many of the modern styles of yoga in three ways: precision, static poses, sequence, with heavy use of props.
It is excellent for building strength, stamina and flexibility and is all about quality rather than quantity. To me this style of yoga is the building blocks of all other forms.
This Iyengar inspired class will also bring back alignment in the sense of a truer meaning of an Asana practice as laid down in the roots of yoga. And that everyone is able to find steadiness (Sthira) and ease (Sukha) in their yoga, systematically working for the good of their body as a whole.
*note - the last class of the month all classes will be dedicated to a much needed Yin Yoga. Yin is mainly floor based postures encouraging the physical, mental and emotional body to unravel, release and let go!.
It really is quite the Yummy practice it sounds.
Remember to wear loose fitting clothes and bring your blankets and bolsters/cushions for this one.
